Outside of a couple of posts in the last week, we’ve been slacking off on our duties to all you Seoulful Adventures readers, but we promise we haven’t been just sitting around on our uncomfortable couch. For the last 4 months we’ve been hard at work designing a new site and reporting a new project that we are happy to announce just launched. The new journalism organization is called International Underground, and we’ve put it together with our friends Greg and Danielle from Schoolhouse: ROK.
International Underground is a place for people from around the world to tell the stories of those who usually aren’t in the media spotlight. We want to be a place for expats, freelance writers, photographers and multimedia artists to share their stories about people from all over the world that aren’t appearing on other blogs or in other newspapers.
Our first big project is about the Filipino community in Seoul that pops up every Sunday around a Filipino market. You can see and hear Anna’s audio slideshow of the market at A Day in the Market and you can read my profile of Ruel Neri, a market vendor and factory worker who is supporting his family in the Philippines, at Finding A Home in Hyehwa. Anna’s photos are also all over the site in people’s stories.
We’ve also set up a new Twitter feed at @intl_undergrnd and you can see more pictures from our projects on our Intl_Undergnd Flickr page.
If you’re interested in contributing some reporting or if you have an idea you think would be interesting for International Underground please contact us at info@internationalunderground.org. Let us know what you think!
